The wine cellar at Funken Lodge is not only a paradise for the wine enthusiast, but also a historically interesting location. Back in the day, the hotel building was used for housing the administrative staff of the coal mining company SNSK (Store Norske Spitsbergen Kullkompani). The basement was full of facilities, such as laundry rooms, and sauna – and the corridor was used as an indoor shooting range! There was also a wine cellar, with many rare vintages that were served only on special occasions.

Today, the wine cellar is refurbished but still stores an extensive vintage collection of bottles from around the world. You will find particularly interesting bottles from famous Bordeaux vineyards. Now you can book an exclusive, private wine tasting with a highly knowledgeable sommelier. Together with the sommelier, you will tailor the tasting according to your preferences and interests. You will get to try 5 different wines, supplemented with 5 delicious canapés.
