About Coal Miners' Cabins
At Coal Miners’ Cabins, you get to live in the mining history of Svalbard. When Mine 2 opened in the 1940s, several two-storey barracks were set up to accommodate the miners. These same barracks now make up the hotel – although with a slightly better standard!
The guest rooms are spread across three different buildings. Most rooms have shared bathrooms, although some room types offer private sinks or ensuite bathrooms. Each building includes a kitchen and communal areas, allowing you to cook, do laundry, meeting fellow travellers from around the globe.
In the main building, you find the main dining room with plenty of space, comfortable seating, and mouth-watering food. The perfect place to recharge your batteries in between outdoor adventures!
