Meet Amanda

Languages spoken: Norwegian and English.

Experience and background: Amanda’s passion for the Arctic started at Svalbard Folkehøgskole, where she studied expedition leadership and spent countless days exploring the wilderness. As a student mentor, she took on additional responsibilities, helping to plan and lead trips. She then continued her studies at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS), where she completed the Arctic Nature Guide program.

With three winter seasons and three summer seasons of guiding under her belt, Amanda has called Svalbard home for nearly five years. Her experience in the field makes her a knowledgeable and confident leader in the Arctic environment.

Special interests: Safety is a top priority for Amanda, ensuring every adventure is both exciting and secure. She also has a deep passion for Svalbard’s wildlife and loves sharing insights about the region’s incredible animal life.

Favourite activity or experience on Svalbard: A long ski expedition with friends – leaving Longyearbyen with a packed sled, skiing for days through stunning landscapes, completely disconnected from the world, and enjoying great conversations along the way.
