Funken Bar was the first in Longyearbyen to make mixed drinks when it opened during the Sun Festival in 1991. At that stage, the bar was not a permanent fixture; The reception desk was used as a bar, and staff from different departments did the bartending. Luckily, a lot has changed since those times, but the great atmosphere and the excellent drinks are still there. Each drink is a work of art in itself, and you will be tempted to taste the whole menu, to see what the bartender may conjure up next.
Many of the drinks will have recognisable names from people or places of importance to Svalbard. Have a chat with the bartender and learn a little more about our archipelago. Funken Bar also offers a selection of dishes based on the same high-quality produce which is used in Funktionærmessen Restaurant.
