Exploring Isfjorden onboard Kvitbjørn
Your guide will pick you up at the hotel and drive to the harbour in Longyearbyen. Here, the enclosed speedboat Kvitbjørn awaits. This 14.9-meter-long boat has a modern design, comfortable seats and a capacity of 12 passengers.
Each day on Svalbard is unique. The light, the wind, the wildlife – you never know exactly what experiences await. On this tour we take advantage of exactly this. Instead of deciding the route way in advance, the captain and guide will make this decision on the same day. What we can say is that we will drive on Isfjorden (the ‘Ice Fjord’). This is the largest fjord on Svalbard.
Magical nature awaits as we venture out on the fjord, and with a bit of luck, we may encounter some wildlife along the way. In sheltered bays, near glaciers, or when wildlife appears, we move slowly and quietly to ensure minimal disturbance. Throughout the tour, you’ll enjoy a 360-degree view of countless mountains. Svalbard is the only place on Earth where such a wide variety of geological eras are preserved in the landscape. You’ll also see traces of history, including old trapper cabins and abandoned ports, offering a glimpse into the past.
We will stay on the boat throughout the tour, but spend plenty of time outside on the aft deck. Here, you really get close to nature. After some hot drinks and freshly baked buns, we set course back to Longyearbyen again.
