Welcome to Funktionærmessen Restaurant! On the first floor of Funken Lodge, this beautifully renovated restaurant, filled with local history, and together with the best views in Longyearbyen we serve delicious world class meals.

This is a historical dining place, which has always been connected with high quality. It was here that the mining company’s office workers enjoyed their meals – and the panoramic outlook over Longyearbyen, Hiorthfjellet and Longyearbreen. The restaurant has returned with a new menu and furnishings, but the history, the views and the exceptional quality of the experience remain.

Funktionærmessen Restaurant invites you to join our dinner with Bollinger, Wednesday 30th of October at 6.30PM.

Bollinger needs little introduction and is recognized as one of the finest Champagne producers. The House was founded in 1829 by Jacques Bollinger and to this day is still family owned. The evening will be hosted by a Bollinger expert, Karl-Frédéric Reuter, who will introduce each pairing along with some champagne tips, and inform us about the history about the House of Bollinger’s philosophy. The menu has been specially created by our chef, join us for a wonderful evening and unique opportunity to taste and enjoy.

We have created a 5-course dinner menu to pair with the Bollinger champagnes.

WINE CELLAR AND CHAMPAGNE TASTING

Funktionærmessen’s wine list boasts over 300 wines, and the cellar overflows with excellent vintages, particularly from well-known producers in Bordeaux. Over 15 000 bottles are available, and we can also tempt you with 70 types of Champagne, including several very rare vintages.

If you prefer, you can start your evening with a Champage tasting at Det gamle Nordpolet in the cellar of Funken Lodge. The old alcohol store from 1954 has been renovated for wine and Champagne tastings. In this room, where miners and office workers came to collect their quota of alcohol, you can book a tasting from our very exclusive wines.

KITCHEN AND MENU

Inspired by an international kitchen, and the best produce available, this restaurant provides a culinary experience which is unmatched in Longyearbyen. The menu is based on a social dining concept, where generous portions are served that can be shared at your table.

King crab from Finnmark, dry-aged beef and Svalbard reindeer from the surrounding area are amongst the culinary highlights. The grill is a central element in the preparation of your meal, and after tasting it, you will wonder what magic is being performed in the kitchen. Combine that with the exceptional views over the town and surrounding mountains and glaciers, and you have an award winning dining experience.
