Welcome to a unique dining experience inside one of the most iconic buildings in Longyearbyen: Huset. Since 1948, Huset has served many roles within the local community, including a church, a school, an airport terminal and even a temporary hospital. Today, this historic venue is the home of Huset Restaurant, where tradition and innovation meet.
Within these walls, the restaurant has become known for its creative and romantic approach to Arctic cuisine. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape and the region's rich culinary heritage, under the leadership of Albert Lozano, the chefs craft an experience that reflects both the building's history and the extraordinary environment of Svalbard. Dining at Huset is not only a highlight of visiting Svalbard, but also a culinary experience recognised far beyond the Arctic.

The Menu and Wine Experience
Huset Restaurant offers an exquisite 14-course tasting menu that celebrates Nordic flavours, with nearly all ingredients sourced locally from Svalbard and the wider Arctic region. Through close collaboration with trappers and hunters in Farmhamna, Bellsund, and Akseløya, the kitchen receives unique local produce such as bearded seal, reindeer, and ptarmigan, ensuring an authentic Arctic dining experience.
Guests can complement the tasting menu with a carefully curated wine pairing or a non-alcoholic juice package, both selected by the restaurant’s knowledgeable sommelier to enhance each course. Alternatively, diners may explore the extensive wine list. Huset is home to Scandinavia’s largest wine cellar, housing more than 6,000 bottles, offering an exceptional choice for wine enthusiasts.
