Set out from Longyearbyen for a guided hike through Adventdalen and into the striking Foxdalen valley. After a short stop at a cosy cabin to collect waders, you cross the Foxdal River and continue into an area known for its layered cliffs, fossils, and wildlife.

We start our trip by car from town and head to Camp Barentz, located 12 km from Longyearbyen, just below the now‑closed Mine 7. From here, we continue on foot through Adventdalen towards Foxdalen.

At Foxdalen, we make a short stop at our cabin to collect waders, which we’ll need to cross the Foxdal River right next to it. After crossing the river, we enter Foxdalen itself, known for its striking layered cliff faces. This area is rich in fossils and wildlife, making the walk both scenic and full of interesting details.

On our way back, we pause once more at the small trapper’s cabin to enjoy a light lunch and something warm to drink. After the break, we hike the final 4 km back to the car. The total walking distance is approximately 12–15 km.
