This tour takes place in our sturdy boats, and the guide will loan you all necessary equipment, including fishing rods and a floatation suit. The best fishing area is not far out on the Isfjord, near Fuglefjella and if it isn’t too late in the season, thousands of nesting birds may watch you eagerly from the cliffs over our fishing spot. It goes without saying that if you do hook a fish, you will be the most popular person in the area, and optimistic gulls, puffins and fulmars will flack around the boat hoping for a fish head or delicious fish guts for lunch!
The nesting birds won’t be the only one looking forward to the catch of the day - we will take the fresh fish to the chefs at Restaurant Nansen, where you can dine on it the same evening. Talk about having full control over the chain of delivery! Perhaps you might tell your waiter a story or two about how you were nearly pulled head over heels into the water as you dragged that 2 - 5 - 9 kilo cod into the boat. As we say in Norwegian - Skitt fiske!
Safety is our highest priority, and the guide needs to be able to give directions you understand. To participate on one of our excursions, it is required that you speak and understand English or one of the Scandinavian languages.
