First Mile Initiative
Heading towards sustainable tourism with the First Mile Initiative
Hurtigruten Svalbard is delighted to be part of the First Mile Initiative, a groundbreaking EU-funded project aimed at reshaping sustainability in tourism. The First Mile project, which includes 80 select businesses from France, Italy, Norway, and Slovenia, is at the forefront of experimenting with behaviour-based solutions that make sustainable choices more intuitive and accessible for both businesses and travellers. We’re proud to stand among these pioneers, leading positive change in our industry!
Our commitment to sustainability
Joining the First Mile Initiative aligns perfectly with our deep-rooted commitment to sustainable tourism. We're not only testing innovative, behaviour-smart approaches but actively implementing them. To minimise single-use plastic waste, we've introduced filtered, ice-cold water dispensers at Radisson Blu’s reception, encouraging guests to fill their reusable bottles and make sustainable choices during their stay. We’ve also installed these dispensers across our office spaces to keep our teams hydrated and reduce waste, one bottle at a time.
Join us in building a more eco-friendly future
At Hurtigruten Svalbard, we’re excited to inspire our guests to adopt sustainable practices that extend beyond their visit. By reducing single-use items and promoting reusable options, we’re taking significant steps towards a more eco-friendly future. Together, with the innovations of the First Mile Initiative, we’re shaping the path forward for responsible, eco-friendly tourism.
