Join an exciting and more environmentally friendly boat trip with our new hybrid vessel MS Bard. This catamaran allows you the get close to nature, whilst enjoying the comfortable and modern design of the boat. Included in this package is a tour to Barentsburg.
Barentsburg is with its 450 inhabitants Svalbard's second largest settlement. The mining community is located in the beautiful Grønfjord, and is operated and owned by the state-owned Russian mining company Trust Arktikugol. There are own coal-fired power stations, hospitals, hotels, schools, kindergartens and cultural and sports buildings. Although there is still mining in the city, tourism is growing into one of the most important industries. It is fascinating to visit Barentsburg and it is indeed a unique experience to combine untouched Svalbard nature with Russian culture.
