Certified processes and routines

Hurtigruten Svalbard has been ISO certified in accordance with the standards ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. This is an important milestone in the company's mission to deliver unique and high-quality experiences. The certifications demonstrate that Hurtigruten Svalbard does this in a safe and predictable way, with focus on improvement measures that reduce the impact on the external environment. The certifications are also forward-looking, ensuring continuous quality improvement for the organisation's processes and routines.

"We are immensely proud to finally be able to show that we work systematically with both quality improvement and safety in this way," says Per Brochmann, CEO of Hurtigruten Svalbard. "This has been an ongoing process where the entire organisation has contributed to the work, and it has been both educational and demanding," he continues. "Our employees' commitment to quality, safety and the environment is key for succeeding in the follow-up, and working with sustainability is something everyone here on Svalbard is engaged in," he concludes.

ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

ISO 9001 is a standard that shows whether an organisation is able to continuously improve itself and deliver services that meet customers' needs and safety within current legislation and guidelines. ISO 14001 deals with environmental management and involves the implementation of an administration framework to reduce the company's environmental impacts and ensure that the organization meets statutory requirements. ISO 14001 is the most recognized international standard for environmental management. The certification audits were conducted by LRQA (formerly Lloyds Register).

Hurtigruten Svalbard is the largest tourism company on Svalbard, with more than 160 employees. The company has earlier been certified in accordance with the Norwegian environmental management certification scheme Eco-Lighthouse (ELH), and is now certified for the ISO standards 9001 and 14001.
