Made for the future - join us today! In the summer of 2021,we launched a hybrid-electric catamaran to roam the Arctic waters. With our new vessel you can join an exciting and more environmentally friendly boat trip to the Russian settlement Barentsburg.
Barentsburg is with its 450 inhabitants Svalbard's second largest settlement. The mining community is located on the beautiful Grønfjord, and is operated and owned by the state-owned Russian mining company Trust Arcticugol. There are own coal-fired power stations, hospitals, hotels, schools, kindergartens and cultural and sports buildings. Although there is still mining in the city, tourism is building up to become the most important industry. It is fascinating to visit Barentsburg and it is an experience to combine untouched nature with Russian culture.
The conditions in Svalbard change a lot throughout the year, and a trip to Barentsburg during the midnight sun in May will be different than when the polar night approaches in October. Whatever the season, you can expect unique experiences in beautiful Svalbard nature. The boat is built with modern design and innovative technological solutions. This creates a unique platform for exploring the sea, wildlife and breathtaking Arctic landscapes.
Between April and August, Svalbard is immersed in midnight sun. The sun shines bright both during the day and night, which is a very odd feeling! In mid-August, the sun slowly starts descending towards the horizon, which colours the evenings in a beautiful, serene, orange light. The mountains and surroundings glow in this evening sun and create a wonderful colourplay.
