Stay at Radisson Blu Polar Hotel Spitsbergen

The Radisson Blu Polar Hotel Spitsbergen is centrally located in Longyearbyen, yet close to the surrounding nature. Here you get to enjoy beautiful views, close proximity to the town center, and comfortable hotel facilities. Cuddle up in front of the fireplace in the lobby, whilst enjoying a hot drink after a long day of adventure. Or how about taking a relaxing bath in the hotel's jacuzzi?

Inside the hotel you will find Barentz Gastropub, where we invite you for a dinner. This is a favourite spot among locals as well as visitors. You can look forward to good food in a relaxed atmosphere, and a rich selection of both local and imported beverages.

Dinner at Restaurant Nansen

Restaurant Nansen's menu is based on the Asian fusion concept. Here, we only use the best local produce and combine it with delicious Asian flavors. An amazing taste combination that must be experienced! The windows in the restaurant give you an extrodinary view towards the beautiful Hiortfjellet.

The food is top notch, but the atmosphere is informal, and you’re welcome to come in your snowmobile gear, straight from the wild.

Ice cave tour with snowcat

Visiting an ice cave is a must-do when on Svalbard. This package includes a fun tour to the cave inside one of the nearby glaciers. You will get picked up with a snowcat; a comfortable vehicle for getting out into the Arctic wilderness. The trip goes up onto the Longyear glacier, located right behind Longyearbyen. It is not a long drive, but this beautiful tour gives you fantastic a view over town and the majestic mountain Hiorthfjellet on the other side of the fjord.

The entrance to the ice cave is difficult to find for anyone other than the guide, but in the middle of all the white there is a small opening. Then, a hidden, frozen world of ice and snow appears when you descend into the cave. You will get equipped with powerful headlights, that allows you to light up the narrow hallway in front of you. The ice cave changes from year to year, but usually one can walk a few hundred meters into the cave before the path stops. In several places, the corridor opens up like a large cathedral of snow and ice, which is incredibly fascinating. Read more about the tour here.

Dogsledding in Bolterdalen

This tour starts at the dog yard, where nearly 300 eager huskies are waiting for their next tour. You will be equipped with an exposure suit, boots and mittens, before you hop in and help the guide to harness and prepare the dogs. The barking and howling can seem a bit chaotic, but suddenly, it all changes. As soon as the dogs start to run, they become completely silent. The huskies are completely focussed on pulling the sled through the snow, and you can enjoy the magical landscape around you.

The guide will drive first with two guests, and the following sleds will be driven by two guests, who swap between driving and sitting in the sled. We will follow the river bed that heads into Bolterdalen, surrounded by mighty mountains. As we approach the glacier we will enjoy a little more up and down between the moraine formations.
