Included in this package is a 5-course Easter dinner in Funktionærmessen Restaurant. The restaurant was originally the dining hall for the officials of the mining company, who were to have only the best. Here you have a fantastic view over Longyearbyen, while enjoying delicious food and drinks. The highly knowledgable staff will help you find the perfect drink that compliments your food.
Funken Lodge also has its own Champagne cellar and a newly refurbished wine cellar. Here you can book private tastings - a unique and exclusive experience!
Snowmobile trip to Elveneset
This lovely snowmobile tour is suitable also for you who have not ridden a snowmobile before. Even though we will remain relatively close to Longyearbyen, this is an incredible nature experience that takes you out into the wildest of Arctic winter landscapes.
The tour has a total distance of approximately 70 kilometers, and the destination is Elveneset - a phenomenal view point over the Tempelfjord and the majestic mountain Tempelfjellet. The trip takes you through varied landscapes and several valleys with beautiful mountains on all sides. At the turning point at Elveneset we will enjoy a break with something hot to drink before heading back home.
After the tour, you will be served hot toddy in Funken Bar, which you can enjoy in front of the fireplace while scrolling through your photos from today's adventure.
Ice cave tour with snowcat
A hidden, frozen world appears when you descend into the ice cave. This is something that must be experienced when on Svalbard. A snowcat is a comfortable vehicle for getting out into the Arctic wilderness. The trip goes up onto the Longyear glacier, located right behind Longyearbyen. It is not a long drive, but this beautiful tour gives you fantastic a view over town and the majestic mountain Hiorthfjellet on the other side of the fjord.
The entrance to the ice cave is difficult to find for anyone other than the guide, but in the middle of all the white there is a small opening. A staircase leads down to the magical world of ice and snow. You will get equipped with powerful headlights, and in a row you light up the narrow hallway in front of you. The ice cave changes from year to year, but usually one can walk a few hundred meters into the cave before the path stops (or it becomes too difficult to force). In several places, the corridor opens up like a large cathedral of snow and ice, which is incredibly fascinating.
